My Architecture and Engineering Interests
I enrolled in this class because I want to be an architect or an engineer after college. This year, I hope that I will learn how to make blueprints, and how to use AutoCAD. I am definitely going to like this course because I get to design things in AutoCAD and learn more about computers. I am exited to pursue a career in this feild because a lot of my family members are engineers, and I also appreciate buildings and fancy structures. My favorite structure is the Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, MI. The first time I went to Detroit, that building stuck out to me and I always thought that it was very important. It is a major part of Detroit and a representation of Italian Renaissance architecture, which along with Art Deco, became the signature style of downtown.
When it comes to design, I believe form should always compliment function. Why be boring? One of my design heroes is an industrial designer named Billy Bibb. He freelance designs automotive accessories like wheels and body modifications, but will also do cool things like teapots and iron front doors. Like Billy, I'd like to freehand sketch ideas, then build them in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
